Works well on my dog. Nearly all the time all I need to do is remind her with a buzz (the sound). This has worked wonders to get her to stop scratching the back door, barking incessantly while outside, and digging holes all over the place. I was about to give up hope for her to learn how to behave outside alone, but this device is really working. Now, I'm just wondering how to get her to not dash out the front door every time it's opened!
OK but doesn't do the distance

Supposed to work up to 100yards, it only works up to maybe 75feet. But it does work well within that range.
Large Dog Shock Collar

Good collar, but I have a Great Alaskan Malamut, live in AK, and a couple of issues.
1. Connector poles that stick out and against dog's neck are not long enough (even the long ones).
2. Insufficient power to really get dog's attention if he/she's a really big dog. Plus you have to to keep adjusting to dog's neck (and must shave dog's neck area to ensure it connects).

I have a 9 month old Black Lab and bought this product in December of 2009. Very quickly I was able to train him to stay in our yard and come when called. So far, we are on the first set of batteries. (Feb 2010) We call it his "good boy" collar. At first I was a little concerned about how humane it was to "shock" my dog. I found that I hardly ever have to use the shock button as he almost always responds to the audio only signal. I found it a lot more humane and safe to have a dog that is in control and obey's.
You could proably spend more money on a higher quality collar with a longer range, but I found this to be a good product for my suburban home 1/4 acre lot.
The dog goes outside with my kids in the back yard while wearing his collar. I keep the remote inside with me. (I do not let the kids shock the dog) If our dog leaves the yard, or he is not listening to them, they come up on the deck and ask for my help. I can then open the sliding glass door and call him or give an audio signal and he comes right up on the deck even if there is another dog in the yard or a squirel.
Range is about 10 feet

Have tried two of these collars now and the range advertised is not even close. While occasionally it has gotten 20 yds, most times if it is over 10 yds it is hit or miss that it will work. I hope the return policy is as good as the exchange policy was.
